There are several ways to access the Internet and provide onboard (shared, multiple computers) access in the marine environment. This includes motor yachts of all sizes. Many vessel owners and/or captains are looking for additional options to satellite Internet access. There is an interest in cost savings but still staying connected. WiFi Hotspot Sharing & Cellular Internet Sharing are two methods of accomplishing this.

WiFi Access is described as an External Two-Way Amplified system that can provide shared access onboard to a network. The system is integrated with existing onboard wired and/or wireless network and is routed so that all computers onboard can use it. This gives yachts another choice in Internet Access. When in range of WiFi Hotspots (or Cellular Broadband), such as provided in many Marinas and Ship Yards they can use Broadband High Speed Internet Access. When they are underway and not in range of such access they can switch back to their underway Satellite system. Sometimes it is not necessarily MORE POWER that you need, but enough (legal) power with the appropriate Low Loss Coaxial Antenna Cables and a Good Quality Gain Antenna to pull the signal into the boat, enough transmit power to reach Hotspots at a couple or a few miles. You can do this without everybody having to log on individually to Marina Hotspots and such, but log on just One Time and Share the Internet to all Computers (wired or wireless onboard.) This saves money on Pay Hotspots since you only need one account.

We also install similar systems for Cellular Broadband (AT&T/Cingular, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon) Internet Access. The two can be installed in one project if desired. Cellular provides 300 - 500Kbps (half a Megabit Per Second) up to 2000Mbps (2 Megabits Per Second) peak speed Internet Access. Cellular Internet costs around $70.00/mo. to $80.00/mo. But it’s a good price on a yacht when it’s shared to everyone.

You'll get things done on the Internet a whole lot faster with these faster speed systems and services.

We can also hook you up for Broadband Phone with Vonage (or Skype) Note: Skype does not provide 911 (E911) capability.
